diagnostic readers

Postby Benno » Wed May 01, 2019 6:19 am

Hi all
Can anyone advise on a fault code reader for my R51 TI550
My understanding is that the OBD 2 readers do not read the Nissan CAN bus system even though the reader connector is a OBD 2 type
Any info would be appreciated

I have an OBD2 bluetooth transmitter plugged in to my 07 R51 and it seems to work OK. Using Torque on my mobile phone to read from it.

I bought a ScanGauge hoping to read fault codes but it doesn't. works for everything else, just no codes.
There are professional ones that can read Nissan codes but they are thousands of $$. Most good mechanics will have one (mine does). You might want to try SupaCheap. They offer a cheap code read service and one would hope they have the right equipment for most vehicles. Last resort is the Nissan dealer.

The Torque Android app which has a free version or $6 Pro reads fault codes from my OBDII USB dongle so it is a cheap option and you can use it any time you like.
It will also delete fault codes .
Strangely I seem to get the same function from my free and paid versions, not sure what the difference is?
