Front Brake Upgrade - 296mm to 320mm

Postby jasun » Mon Jan 07, 2019 5:12 pm

Hi all,

Been a few years since I have visited, been playing in the Navara field since I lost a game of chicken with a truck, but the time for another Pathy has come.

As you will all be aware, the brakes are atrocious on the R51's. I recently took the challenge to better the brakes by purchasing some DBA slotted rotors and HD pads. Unfortunately following the logic of the DBA part selector (and being to lazy to measure first) I ended up purchasing a set of DBA T3 rotors (DB42312S) in the 320mm variant.

My challenge is that I would like to find a set of OEM callipers from an equivalent model to do a pseudo factory upgrade.

I have an April 2010, Spanish built, 140kW, Ti, Auto non DPF with OEM 17inch wheels.

To the best I can find it's the D40 ST-X 550 and V6 Petrol Pathfinders that have the 320mm rotors, but I am having an un-godly time trying to physically verify this.

Is there anybody out there in the forum who knows they have 320mm rotors on a 2010 Pathfinder, give or take a little, but same fit?

Cheers

Look up Nissan spec sheet
front 296x28 for all but Ti 550 - 320x28
rear 308x18 for all models
I understand the 320 discs will not fit 16" rims, well the calipers, the discs would. but they are not much good by themselves.

I was also going to mention that I use engine braking, all the time. Mine is auto and I drive it like manual most of the time. I would not buy manual turbo car anyway as you keep loosing boost at every gear change unless you drive it very hard like a rally car. With auto the torque converter smooths it all out. I found that I will always out accelerate manual P/Fined or Navara. I have only done 50k but my pads are like new.
Different to when I used to drive Fiats and Alfas in the 80's. I used the soft racing pads and replace every 5000k with oil change. You cannot buy those anymore, asbestos I think. All pads are too hard now. Soft pad would stop you better.
